EV RENTAL IN KATHMANDU

The Easiest Way to Get Around the Valley

Kathmandu is a city of short hops — a meeting in Durbarmarg, lunch in Patan, a run out to Bhaktapur before dark. That is exactly the kind of driving an electric car is best at, and exactly the kind of driving that makes a petrol car expensive. We deliver a fully charged EV to wherever you are staying in the valley and collect it when you’re done.

  • Free delivery & pick-up across the valley
  • Airport pick-up from Tribhuvan International (TIA)
  • Self-drive cars, or vans with an experienced local driver
  • Hourly, daily, weekly and monthly hire

WHY DRIVE ELECTRIC HERE

Why an EV Makes Particular Sense in Kathmandu

A few things about this city make an electric vehicle a genuinely better tool than a petrol one, not just a greener one.

Traffic Barely Costs You

Sitting in Koteshwor traffic burns fuel in a petrol car. An EV uses almost nothing when it isn’t moving, so a slow day costs you very little range.

No Fumes in the Valley

Kathmandu’s bowl-shaped valley traps air pollution in winter. Driving electric means you add nothing to it, and no exhaust smell inside the car.

Charge Back on Descents

Coming down from Nagarkot or Chandragiri, regenerative braking puts charge back into the battery instead of wearing out your brakes.

Best Charging Coverage

The valley has more chargers than anywhere else in Nepal — though for a normal day of city driving you won’t need one at all.

WHERE PEOPLE DRIVE

Everything in this table is comfortably within range on a single charge, so you can leave in the morning and come back the same day without planning a charging stop.

Charging an electric car in Kathmandu, Nepal
Delivered Full A day in the valley on one charge

The question we get asked most about EV rental in Kathmandu is where to charge. In practice, most of our customers never do. A car that arrives with a full battery has more than enough range for a normal day inside the valley — sightseeing, meetings, a run to Bhaktapur and back — because valley distances are short and city speeds are low. You simply hand the vehicle back at the end of the day.

If you are staying several days or heading up to Nagarkot and beyond, the valley has the best charging coverage in the country, with fast chargers at malls, hotels and dealer outlets across Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. We will point out the ones nearest to you when we drop the vehicle off, and if the trip is a long one you can always book the EV rental in Kathmandu with one of our drivers and leave the route planning to us.

FAQS

EV Rental in Kathmandu — FAQs

An electric car in Kathmandu starts from NPR 3,500 for a full day of up to 8 hours and 80km, or NPR 600 per hour with a two-hour minimum. EV vans start from NPR 7,500 per day with a driver. Airport transfers within the valley are a flat NPR 2,000 for a car.

Yes. Delivery and pick-up are free anywhere inside the Ring Road and across most of the valley, including Thamel, Lazimpat, Baneshwor, Patan, Bhaktapur, Budhanilkantha and Tribhuvan International Airport.

Electric cars are well suited to Kathmandu. Stop-start traffic that drains a petrol car uses very little battery, there is no idling and no engine heat, and regenerative braking recovers charge on the descents into the valley.

The valley has the densest charging network in Nepal, with fast chargers at malls, hotels and dealer outlets across Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. Every rental leaves fully charged, which covers a normal day of valley driving without stopping to charge at all.

Yes. Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Namobuddha and Chandragiri are comfortable day trips on a single charge. For longer runs to Pokhara or Chitwan we plan the route around charging stops, or you can book the vehicle with a driver.

No. Any valid driving licence accepted in Nepal is enough for a self-drive electric car. EV vans are normally hired with one of our drivers.
